Is the teeth whitening treatment for everyone?

Our teeth whitening procedure provides dramatic results for anyone who wants to whiten their teeth. This includes people with teeth that have been stained by smoking or substance such as tea or coffee. It also whitens teeth stained by tetracycline, speckled by fluoride or hereditary discolouration. As scientific tests have not yet been carried out it is advised that pregnant women or clients under 16 should not receive any teeth whitening treatment

How white will my teeth get?

Although individual results will depend on how discoloured the teeth were originally, there will be noticeable improvement for everyone, and teeth will be white and shiny. Teeth shades can brighten between 4-14 shades with an average improvement of 2-8 shades on the Vita Teeth Whitening Shade Guide.

How long will the results last?

This depends from person to person and depends on your diet and lifestyle but the effects usually last 1-2 years. Periodic touch up treatments are recommended for clients who frequently consume coffee or other staining foods and drinks or for those that use tobacco products.
We recommend a 15 min touch up procedure every 3-12 months to ensure your smile stays at its brightest.

Is it safe?

Yes. Scientific research has shown that the active ingredients in our teeth whitening gel are effective and safe for cosmetic tooth whitening. In fact our new gel has been clinically proven safer than drinking orange juice!

What about enamel damage?

The dental community has used these ingredients in performing teeth whitening for about 125 years and there is not one known case of enamel damage.

How long does the treatment take?

In only 60minutes discoloration that has built up over the years will magically disappear. It takes no longer than the time it would be for you to have a hair cut or a facial! It’s that simple! The whole appointment including set up time takes about 60 minutes.

Will it hurt?

Most clients experience no pain or sensitivity during or after the treatment. If you suffer from sensitivity we recommend that you use sensitive toothpaste for 2 weeks prior to your treatment.
A very rare percentage of clients may feel some very minor tooth sensitivity especially if they consume very hot or very cold food or drinks within a few hours after the treatment; this is normal and transitory and passes within 3-4 hours.
Therefore, it is recommended that clients refrain from consuming extremely hot or cold food or beverages for the first 24 hours following the treatment.

Will the gel whiten crowns, veneers or false teeth?

The teeth whitening will only remove intrinsic staining from natural teeth. However the gel will help remove all extrinsic staining from teeth including false teeth . This means that your false teeth will be “cleaned” back to their original colour.
If you are planning to have a crown, bridge, filling or false tooth it is recommended to have your teeth whitened first. Your dentist will be able to match the shade of the false tooth to the new colour.

Is teeth whitening classified as dentistry?

No. Teeth whitening is classified as a cosmetic treatment not a dental one.
